My new goals

At the beginning of last month, I started with setting goals for myself .  So, now it's time for an update: - I would say I did okay (not great). - I did achieve my goals for my blog, my personal writing and studying. - But I fell behind in workouts and also I didn't get around to reading. For the next month, my new goals are: STUDY harder- I have to improve my grades. I am gonna get an A. WORKOUT - be consistent, and follow a healthy diet.  BLOG - continue to be creative. I am aiming at thrice a week now, and the plan is to follow a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule. I think it makes more sense for me right now to focus on just these three and do a good job at them, instead of juggling too much and making a mess of my life. I think starting new things will have to wait a few months.  What are your new goals for this month (or old)? P.S. 5 things on my shopping list

1. Slip-on shoes: As much as I love heels, flats are my go-to shoes. And I really love TOMS slip-on shoes, so they definitely go to the top of my shopping list. I found these jutti style shoes and I WANT THEM SO BAD!!  Buy here 2. Colorblock Tote: For a long time I have been looking for a bag which I can use while travelling or on short trips. Yes, I am a girl and I need space in my bag. I came across this bag on Kohl's website, and I have kept it in my cart for few days thinking I might change my mind later (I usually do this so I can avoid the regret of spending on something I didn't really want.)  Looks like I really do want it, and since there is need too- this will have to go on my shopping list. Buy here 3. Fountain pens: I love to write- journal, letters, and I recently remembered how much I liked that phase in middle school when we used fountain pens. I found this Varsity fountain pen set on Amazon, and on the up side- it comes in 7 colors! Buy h

Making multitasking possible

There are so many things going on in my life that, all at once, seem to demand attention from me. It is kind of stressing me out now, and the more I stress the more I want to not do any of those. Health: I have to get in a better shape and lose weight, and it needs meal planning, cooking at home, and working out of course. Job: It's a new job, and there's lot to learn, and for that I might even have to put in extra hours than usual. School: I am also finishing up my degree, which means I need to put in at least 10-12 hours each week. Blog: I really enjoy blogging, and reading other blogs, but all of it demands time. But, I just lose track of time very often while writing posts, or going through my feed, and end up spending hours. Relationships:  with me & others: A good work-life balance is important to me, and I don't want to become a person who is too busy to have some time for family, friends, or herself. Also, I need to focus on myself, learn

5 Things I Learned from Blogging Again

Hello scribblers, How are you all? Long time since my last open letter to you. I know, I know, I was the one who had been absent for so long. Blogging again really seems like a comeback to me- can't even remember the past few years, they were so busy and fast. They still are, but writing is something I loved and therefore I have decided to give it my best effort by managing my time better. I started blogging again at the start of this year, and I am happy to be continuing it. And in this past month or so, there are a few things I have learned: Consistence is important , in everything we do. Even when we don't feel like doing it. Each day is different, and some days it takes a lot of extra work to get the thoughts from mind to paper. A little push on those days, and a bit of scheduling on the good days can help you on those seemingly bad ones.  It's quality, not quantity. The number of followers doesn't matter as much as the engagement with them. The num

Is fortune real?

Last night, I went out for dinner with my roommate to P.F. Changs . We had a good time talking and eating- the two most important things for us. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken, and she got Oolong chilean Sea bass.  (Honestly, the food was just okay - I've had better!) With the check, we got these different fortune cookies they had made for their Valentine's special. I never eat fortune cookies, but my roommate thought they tasted better than the usual ones. I opened mine, and it said,  "Your heart of gold will soon help a friend in need." This fortune left me in mixed feelings. I do like to help my friends, I have always done so. But lately I have been feeling I do that a lot, but don't get much in return. So, this fortune doesn't make me feel so good. Maybe helping others has nothing to do with happiness. Maybe it just is how my life is. “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorabl

Love your Pet day

It is Love your Pet day , so here's some puppy love: “The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog.” ― M.K. Clinton (author, The Returns) I have two puppies back at my parents' house- they are the cutest ever. I miss them so much here. I want to get me a puppy once I am a little settled with the new job and new place. Do you have any pets? Do you want to get one? P.S. 7 ways to feel better

We all have those days when nothing feels good, our shoulders are heavy and nobody seems to understand. I have been there too, quite a lot lately . Although we cannot run away from our problems altogether, sometimes we need to shut them out for a while and just focus on picking ourselves up.  Here are some things that always (read: most of the times) work for me: Chocolate:  It is the best endorphin fix there is (for me, at least). A small amount of chocolate , especially dark chocolate, can help elevate moods and induce a sense of pleasure. If you are not used to the darker ones, start adding the darkness gradually- that's what I did; there was a time when I hated dark chocolate, but after reading about its health benefits I started increasing the cacao percentage and now my absolute favorite is Ghirardelli Intense Dark . So, here's another reason for you to splurge*! Hot bath:  Baths can help reduce the stress and tiredness in body, and even help improve sleep.

Things I procrastinate with

(Photo: here ) They say when you procrastinate you do the things you like the most. There's a quote by Jessica Hische that says,"the work you do while you procrastinate is probably the work you should be doing for the rest of your life". When I procrastinate, I do it with: Tumblr - it is my first go to app on phone, and probably the most visited website on my laptop. Friends - thanks Netflix!  Cleaning - normally, I wouldn't go for it, but when I am dreading some other task, suddenly cleaning my room becomes very important. Food . I'm always extra hungry when I'm bored. (I should do something about this.) Doodling and writing - I get a creativity boost when I'm shooing away responsibilities.  Phone calls - usually I'm not a phone person but I start missing everyone when there are other things to be done Plan - I try to fit things in future days to make myself not feel guilty for wasting time now.  I think I can be a greatly distracted

Happiness is unexpected

Happiness is always unexpected. We spend days waiting for a tiny Ray of Hope, but it's all about the timing. Things will happen when they are supposed to happen. All the worrying and thinking can't change anything. Just let things be, let them happen at their own pace, and do what you need to do. Life is good; the rough patches make it much more interesting. Valentines special: Love quotes

"The supreme happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved."  ― Victor Hugo ~ “You don't love someone because they're perfect, you love them in spite of the fact that they're not.”  ― Jodi Picoult, My Sister's Keeper ~ "All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt."  ― Charles M Schulz ~ Have a Happy Valentine's Day, scribblers! P.S. Let's connect on  Facebook ,  Instagram ,  Pinterest  and  Twitter !

Picture Perfect Friday: Coffee appreciation

“Let me wake up next to you, have coffee in the morning and wander through the city with your hand in mine, and I'll be happy for the rest of my fucked up little life.”  ― Charlotte Eriksson, Empty Roads & Broken Bottles; in search for The Great Perhaps PS: Coffee on a winter morning: bliss! My two favorites: Friends & Harry potter

Anybody who knows me knows how much love I have for F.R.I.E.N.D.S and Harry Potter . It's more than love, like this obsession, so much that my friends get irritated at times. The same weekend as my Disney trip , we also took a trip to the Warner Bros. Studios. I was super-excited! Here are some pictures of one of the best days of my life. Let's first go to Central Perk  I got the black one!  Yes, I sat on that couch!  ...and now to my other love  I looked. Mine wasn't there :-(   I love you Dobby Gryffindor!! I also did send out the Bat-signal  and we ended the day with the mandatory Hollywood sign visit. What a weekend it was! When was your last trip? Where did you go? P.S. Waking up early?

Hello scribblers, If you are anything like me, waking up in the morning is the hardest thing you do every day. I have been trying to make myself a morning person, or something close to that, for so long but even after I get in a routine one late weekend can just bring it back to square one. Anyway, I found this helpful list about "how to wake up earlier". I hope it helps me, and any of you who needs to! Happy waking up! Happy morning! Love, DT P.S. My 2015 Bucket List

Like everybody else, I too have made several bucket lists over last few years. Last year, I had 4 things on my list: Get a tattoo, drive on Golden Gate Bridge, go Skydiving, and visit Las Vegas. But, even after keeping the list short, I could do only half of it. I did get a tattoo and also drove on the Golden Gate Bridge which was awesome . But sadly, the rest of it couldn't happen! I might be a little late in doing this but I am making another list this year, we'll see how far we go with this one! Make this year a year of me. As far as I can remember, I have always given more importance to others- their happiness, their expectations of me. I want to change this. I want to be selfish.  Travel. Like last year, I have a few destinations in mind but I have learned that we cannot plan too much. So, I will try to travel as much as I can without making rigid expectations from this year or from people.  If someone is reading, I still have Vegas and Florida on my list. Sa

Step Up Sunday - Linkup

I found this workout linkup on Britt's blog and I think it is a great way to be accountable to some other bloggers with the same struggles. How many pounds did you gain or lose? -1 since my last weigh-in How many inches did you gain or lose? +/- 0  Your weekly exercise or step goal, and did you meet it? My weekly goal is 6 days/week, which did not happen this week (gym was under some renovations). I did some workout for most days but I don't count it for much. It is good for general health and all, but wasn't much for my goals. What was your biggest challenge this week? Getting back to gym. I am a person for whom more than a day of break can put a full stop to all progress. I will need to kick my own butt tomorrow. What is your favorite healthy snack or meal? Avocados. I know they are fatty, but it is a healthy fat and they are nutritious and delicious- make a goof pre/post workout snack for me. Do you have any advice or tips for the rest of us? Don'

Things I miss

As you all know, last week I moved   to a new city- which means a new but empty apartment. And there's only so much you can stuff into two suitcases. So it is going to take some time to make this into a home. It is going to be gradual, depending on each paycheck. But, right now I really miss: My camera: Thanks to baggage restrictions on flights, I had to leave my camera behind with my friend for time being. And being in a new city and also buying new things and decorating my place, I want to take pictures of everything. I guess the phone will have to do for now. Half of my wardrobe: Like I said, thanks baggage restrictions. Dresser: I like organizing things in drawers, especially the tiny stuff. I can't figure out where to put all of it till the time I find a good dresser. Bed: Sleeping on layers of comforters until my bed gets delivered sometime next week. Desk: I like to work on a writing desk, for blogging or anything else I have to do on my laptop. Also, I

It's Friday!

My roommate is gonna be here tonight. Yay! No plans yet, and also since she would have traveled for more than 20 hours, I don't think we will have any big plans this weekend. I am just happy that I will be seeing her after months, and I will have someone to talk to here after living alone this last week. We might go out for a roommate dinner, 'coz we both love to eat. What are your plans for the weekend? Having a lazy weekend? Check these out: This  Owl mug - I can see myself drinking tea in it! This   wall clock - reminder to read all the time This DIY desk calendar - gold on white is so elegant. This tattoo - could it be my next one? Happy weekend, Scribblers!  P.S. February Goals

Participating in the Make a habit, break a habit linkup yesterday got me thinking. Every year we all set up a bunch of goals for ourselves, which we may or may not achieve. I fall in the latter categories mostly. So, I have decided to take a problem solving approach and break it down to more achievable goals and hold myself accountable each month. For February I am a few days late, but better late than never, right? Here's my list: Finish READING the book  ( A million little pieces ) I started few months ago, but never finished because of my laziness WORKOUT  at least 21 days this month - making a habit Stay active on BLOG  , I'd say 4 times a week maybe. Write in my JOURNAL  every day- one liners would do! STUDY consistently - more than 3 days a week. I will be back with update on this at end of month. Wish me luck! P.S. I also found these old February goals . Also, check out my linkup goals . What are your goals?  P.S. Let

Make a habit, Break a habit

I found this link-up on My Passion Journey  today, and I just love the idea so much that I have to do this right away.  Habit to make: Working out everyday. I am planning to try the '21 days to make a habit' rule. Habit to break: Bad sleep cycles. Since there is no fixed routine these days, I stay up till like 4 am every night and hence waking up around noon.  Check out The Pinnacle Project too, and give it a go yourself. What habits do you wanna make or break? P.S. Let's connect on  Facebook ,  Instagram ,  Pinterest  and  Twitter !

My big move

This last weekend was my big move across country. I am starting a new job soon, so new city new place. It is pretty exciting; I am thinking about home decor ALL THE TIME! I know it is going to take time set up the place and it will be one thing at a time, but I can't stop. I even made a Pinterest board for decor ideas- Check it out!  But along with all the excitement, it is also scary and overwhelming. There is SO MUCH to do. And having to do it alone, makes it even scarier. For every little thing you have to make a decision yourself, and some of those have to be quick. On top of that, unpacking is so damn hard. I am just procrastinating most of the time because I dread it. Plus I have no furniture to put my stuff in. But, slowly doing what I can. And, like every big thing, this big move also comes with some realizations: You need food and sleep. In a long list of things to do, these two tend to take a back seat. But our body has a way of reminding us their importance
