Favorite Childhood Memories — October Blogging Challenge Day 13

For the blogging challenge, today I am to share my favorite childhood memories. I loved writing this post— it was like a journey down the memory lane, and that too to the best parts. There are so many memories, playing like short flashback in my head. And, I'll share the ones that made me smile the most! When my mom said I was like my dad— It wasn't something too big. I fixed something (don't remember what it was, but probably something little and irrelevant), and my mom said I am fixing things like my dad. It made me feel so happy and proud! When I just didn't want to leave my mom— One summer I was gonna go stay with my grandparents for a few days, but when they came to take me I went up in the attic and hid there. It took everyone so long to find me. When my baby sister was born— She was this big chubby baby, and I remember I would come back from school, pick her up and just keep adoring her and playing with her fingers and toes. That's al...

10 not-so-known things about me — October Blogging Challenge Day 10

Today I am sharing some things that not a lot of people know about me. There are some very close people who may come back and say "I knew all of them", but you my friend are one of the rare few— feel special! And my scribblers, I am bringing you all a little bit closer by sharing this with you: I blog. Yes, you all know. But, in my personal life, not a lot of people know about this side of me. When I started blogging, it was with an intention of having a private place of my own away from people keeping tabs and knowing everything. And, it has just stayed that way! I am not a shopping person.   I have given it multiple attempts since being a girl I am supposed to love it. But it always feels like work to me. I don't like spending all day in malls to find one thing. Moreover, I am not that person who likes to look around to see if they'll like something. I just know what I need, and I'd rather just order online from the comfort of my bed. I hate pretzel...

Long Weekend in Oregon: Road Trip

This was probably the most random trip so far— it was not exactly a last moment trip, but wasn't the first choice. It wasn't even a choice initially. I was part of a plan to Florida with a bunch of friends, but that fell thru and we cancelled our tickets. But, I didn't want to waste a long weekend sitting home, hence began the search for affordable tickets last minute and also I wanted to avoid a lot of travel time. And thus I come to Oregon as an option and started looking at the things to do and pictures... And that was it! We booked out tickets— Virgin America was pretty cheap and it was just a 90 minutes flight. And lucky for us, we got to fly first class on our way back because for some reason they were selling those cheaper than the economy. So, obviously I grabbed them! Portland We landed in Portland Friday night, and stay at a Best Western Hotel near airport. We were starving by the time we were done with the rental car, and checking in to the...

A Day in my Life — October Blogging Challenge Day 8

Today I'll take you along for a day, to show you how a day in my life looks like usually. My alarm rings at 7:30am and another one rings 5 minutes later, and I play snooze game for about half an hour before I give up and decide to get up. The first thing I do after getting up is drink some warm water with lemon in it, and I take some good 10 minutes in doing that. It may sound very long for a glass of water, but I am actually using that time to really wake up. I cannot function if jolted out of sleep. I need slow awakening, before I can get to anything. In the next 30-45 minutes, I get ready to head out— the usual shower, clothes, hair and little bit of makeup. I eat my breakfast at home everyday, which is usually an oatmeal or a smoothie. I make my breakfast and hop onto a daily phone meeting, while eating my breakfast. It's a short 15 minute meeting, just for updates among co-workers. After the meeting and breakfast are done at 10am, I head out to work. I dr...

Things I Learned — October Blogging Challenge Day 7

I have written several "things I learned" posts before, but usually I focus on what I learned in last week or month. But when writing for this blogging challenge, I thought of looking back at life instead: Working from home isn't for me. At my workplace, we get this option of working from, in case we have some errands to run or doctors to visit and want to save commute time, or if we aren't feeling well. Some mornings I am really tempted to just work from home, because I can sleep extra in the getting ready time. But that laziness lasts all day, and in the end it isn't really productive. People are different. Everyone has their own moral code. What's wrong for you, maybe okay in someone else's book. It's better to accept these difference, than to expect people top behave according to your rules. There's not just black and white— there are different shades of gray in between.  You get what you put in. If you really want to do somethi...

My biggest Pet peeves — October Blogging Challenge Day 6

Today, as a part of my blogging challenge, I am sharing the things that irk me the most: People chewing with mouth open just ruin the meal for me. Not only they'll show the food in their mouth to everyone, they'll add on their personal sounds so you can't ignore them by looking in another direction. Bad table manners are just a big turn off! The sound of someone scratching their nail on wood or pencil. I don't know what's about it but it sends jitters up my spine. It's something I can't even tolerate for a second. People using speakerphones for their personal or work calls. Even if you don't want to hold your phone, they do come with headphones right? no one has any interest in your calls. They are just noise to me. Please be considerate of others' space. People who don't listen. Everyone wants to multitask these days, so much that they want to catch up on their emails, and Facebook, and texting while I am talking to them. The...

Favorite Five: Movies — October Blogging Challenge Day 5

I am a big movie fan; I like everything about them— the storytelling, the different world, the drama and romance. I am always up for movies, be it in a movie theatre or at home with Netflix!  If I were to make a list of my favorite movies, these would always be on the list: Harry Potter: ALWAYS! N eed I say more? I can do marathons of Harry Potter movies over a weekend, and it would be the best time spent. Remember Me: I just love this movie and have watched it countless times. It makes you realize how unpredictable life is, and how much we take the people and moments in our life for granted.  "Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we have touched." P. S. I love you: Another movie I can watch any time. Although I like the book so much better (that's true for almost every book turned movie), it still feels good to watch that kind of love. And it also too makes us realize the unpredictability of life, and how we should live today to ...

The story behind Here I Scribble — October Blogging Challenge Day 4

Writing has always been dear to me. It is my preferred way of communication— to other as well as myself. Whenever I am confused or overwhelmed, writing helps me. I love writing in my journal, and reading it at random times later. If I have to tell someone how much they mean to me, I'd prefer writing a letter. If I am to explain myself, I am able to put across my feelings and thoughts much better in writing. Even random scribbles in a notepad somehow help me relax.  When I first started blogging, it was because of a stay-at-home situation. All thanks to the reckless people on road! I met with an accident and had an ankle fracture, because of which I had to stay in bed for few months— which made it really hard to keep any private journal. A friend of mine suggested keeping an online journal, and I stumbled upon Blogger trying to find an escape. That's how I was introduced to the blogging world. Although once I joined, it wasn't so much of a journal.  I took my scrib...

A day of laziness — October Blogging Challenge Day 3

Today is Day 3 of the October Blogging Challenge, and today's theme is outfit of the day. Ideally, I would be dressing up in my best clothes, going out to some nice location with great lighting to get some pictures of my cutre dress and my little bag. But, truth be told— I am tired. Weekend in here finally, and after this long slow hard week, all I wanted was sleep and rest and I am getting that today. So, obviously I am in my pajamas all day—  and thats my outfit of the day ! Yes, Tina Fey, you got it right! ...And this is my super-honest Outfit of the day. What's your Outfit of the Day? More importantly, who else shares the same outfit as me? P.S. Thankful Friday — October Blogging Challenge Day 2

Thankful posts are one of my favorite things to write. Making myself think about the things (or people) I am blessed with, fills me up with so much gratitude and just makes my day so much better.  Today I am thankful for: Friday: This week has been so hard and so slow, and I am just happy that it's finally Friday and I can catch up on sleep over the weekend. I also need a break from work.  Fitness progress: I know it's not the best and should be better if we go by the fitness calculators, but with the stubborn body I have, I am still thankful for the progress I have made and also for being able to stick to the diet. Puppies: My dog back home had babies, and they are the cutest thing ever. I wish I could just go home right now to play with them. Sunsets: Cali has been bestowing upon us amazing sceneries every evening. The views are simply breathtaking. I sit on my desk, looking out the window every evening and it takes all the stress away.  S...
