Transient Tuesdays: Change

You must be the change you wish to see in the world.  ― Mahatma Gandhi My life has been about change – My life unexpectedly changed at 18 years old when a blood clot landed me in a coma, and the past decade since then has been all about healing, changing, growing and evolving. For me, I tend to look outwards for guidance on how exactly to change. I find such solace in the world of nature around me. To watch the trees transitioning with the seasons helps me tune in to what I need to change internally, or the new direction I am to follow. Just as Summer accelerates towards a spectacular Autumn gust, I have learned that there is a time to say goodbye to old childhood memories and take on a new, deeper identity, ,based in who I was, yet shaped by what has happened to me. And just as winter eventually thaws to make way for Spring peonies, I have learned that all good things do take time – and late bloomers and beautiful too! I w

Transient Tuesdays: From Little Things

Three years ago, my first little terror began her journey into the world. It changed everything. Before her I was a control freak. Before her I was vain. Before her I was shy and awkward. I was totally oblivious to all the little things that were to become my absolute passions in this world. She taught me to be brave and fearless. She taught me to live with purpose and strive to live the best life I can for myself and for my family.  This little person took me away from the work I had planned on doing since I was ten years old. A vocation I spent years achieving. Instead, she has steered me on a mission to provide whole and healthy foods for my growing family and to help and inspire others on similar journeys. Oh, and she inspired me to be a great parent too, of course :)  When I was about thirteen my friends and I conducted a little survey to see what we thought each girl in the group would be doing by the time we were thirty. Everyone in the group ag

Happy things

“Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart,  it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.”  ― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh It's Friday and I am happy. So, I want to be thankful for all the great things in my life lately, and of course share them with you. New phone: I got Samsung Note 4 and I am in love with S-pen. I love doodling, and now I can do it anywhere anytime I want to. A touristy day: Over the memorial day weekend, I spent  a day in San Francisco , doing the touristy things like visiting Lombard street, Fisherman's wharf and more.   Check out my post to read more about that. Lemon cakes:  I recently tried the lemon cakes for the first time and I loved them! I now understand why they are Sansa Stark's favorite too. I got them from Nothing Bundt cakes, along with red velvet and white chocolate raspberry flavors which are delicious too. Workouts: I have been regular on my workouts for whole of June so far. I have bee

Transient Tuesdays: Simply Myself

Hi everyone! My name is Valerie and I blog on Indecisively Restless . There you can find my writings on life, food, TV & movies, and books. I’m so excited to be a guest on DT’s blog today. I love reading her posts and am so excited to see this new series come to life. Change is a big topic that covers such a wide area that I admit I had some trouble coming up with what exactly I was going to write about. Hopefully you’ll be able to understand, or at least empathize, with what I’ve decided on.  I got my first boyfriend in high school. I was young, naïve, and had a pretty terrible view of myself. I thought the simple fact that he liked me was a good enough reason to start a relationship. Because I didn’t want us to break up, I started to get into his activities and music. I wanted to prove how good we were for each other. “Do you like motorcycles?” he asked. “Of course I love motorcycles.” “Do you listen to Nine Inch Nails?” he asked. “Oh yeah. I really li

A day in San Francisco — Memorial Day

If you have followed my blog for sometime, you probably know about my big move across coast. It's been a few months being a Cali resident, but I haven't gotten out as much as I would have liked.  Maybe once we move to a place, it kinda loses the tourist charm that it has when we visit for a weekend. Don't you think? I decided to make this right and this Memorial Day weekend, I spent my first Touristy day in San Francisco. Like anything else, I made a long list of places to see, and spread it across three days based on distance proximity. Yes, it was a whole weekend plan but life get in way and hence it ended up being just a day trip. The day started with a little detour at Bay Trail, near Shoreline Park, followed by a quick brunch at Crepe Vine and a beautiful long drive to the city. The Painting Ladies at Alamo Square was our first stop. These are basically just houses with a Victorian architecture and painted with three or more colors. The whole area l
