Transient Tuesdays: Change

My life has been about change – My life unexpectedly changed at 18 years old when a blood clot landed me in a coma, and the past decade since then has been all about healing, changing, growing and evolving. For me, I tend to look outwards for guidance on how exactly to change. I find such solace in the world of nature around me. To watch the trees transitioning with the seasons helps me tune in to what I need to change internally, or the new direction I am to follow.

Transient Tuesdays: Change

Just as Summer accelerates towards a spectacular Autumn gust, I have learned that there is a time to say goodbye to old childhood memories and take on a new, deeper identity, ,based in who I was, yet shaped by what has happened to me.

Transient Tuesdays: Change

And just as winter eventually thaws to make way for Spring peonies, I have learned that all good things do take time – and late bloomers and beautiful too!

Transient Tuesdays: Change

I wanted to share this wonderful song about change and transitions from the Broadway show “Carnival” called “Mira”.  This is a recording of me singing this years ago, trying to come to terms with how my life had changed so suddenly, and had changed me as well.  Yet, I still yearned to feel like myself.  How do we get back to “Mira” – a place where “everybody knows our name” when life keepings changing…

And that’s the question I leave you with today – how can we continue to change and grow while still feeling that same Self that we woke up to this world with?

And as REO Speedwagon says, just roll with the changes!!!

Transient Tuesdays: Change

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”

A day in San Francisco — Memorial Day

If you have followed my blog for sometime, you probably know about my big move across coast. It's been a few months being a Cali resident, but I haven't gotten out as much as I would have liked.  Maybe once we move to a place, it kinda loses the tourist charm that it has when we visit for a weekend. Don't you think? I decided to make this right and this Memorial Day weekend, I spent my first Touristy day in San Francisco. Like anything else, I made a long list of places to see, and spread it across three days based on distance proximity. Yes, it was a whole weekend plan but life get in way and hence it ended up being just a day trip. The day started with a little detour at Bay Trail, near Shoreline Park, followed by a quick brunch at Crepe Vine and a beautiful long drive to the city. The Painting Ladies at Alamo Square was our first stop. These are basically just houses with a Victorian architecture and painted with three or more colors. The whole area l...

Transient Tuesdays: Don’t Be Afraid of Change

There are two types of people: those who fear change and those who actively pursue. I have always been an active pursuer of change, while my brother was not. I was the kid who changed my after school activity until I found what I really loved, with no fear at all. I was the one who changed my hair in middle school, who became a leader in a club during my freshmen year of high school, and who insisted on touring the country at 17.  Change is a choice, and is an active endeavor. And so is not changing. We decide the direction our lives take, and we can either do so with fear or with confidence. Making changes keeps life the way you want it, on the track you wish to take, and is completely you’re choice what to do, or not do. Change shouldn't scare you, because it’s a tool to help you make your life just the way you want. Although staying where you are is comforting, change can make you grow and improve your situation. So go change your hair, your job, your city, or w...

Transient Tuesdays: Create change

Imagine a world where everything remained unchanged. That would mean no age, no time, no movement and of course no development. If you ask me, I see no difference between death and remaining static. When was the last time you did something new?  How long have you been sticking to a routine and disregarded the idea of doing something new for a change? Is any of your bad habits causing you pain?  You realize you have to change but simply can't bring yourself to do it?   Do you fear changing will jeopardize your present circumstances? I’m sure many of you will be able to relate to these questions. The fact that you're reading this means you want to take the steps and turn your life around. You must be aware how important change is to our survival. Change is mandatory. Change is constant. Change is inevitable. Change is everywhere and present in the most minute of things. It's happening to you as you read this. So, why do we shy away from...
