You must be the change you wish to see in the world.
― Mahatma Gandhi
My life has been about change – My life unexpectedly changed at 18 years old when a blood clot landed me in a coma, and the past decade since then has been all about healing, changing, growing and evolving. For me, I tend to look outwards for guidance on how exactly to change. I find such solace in the world of nature around me. To watch the trees transitioning with the seasons helps me tune in to what I need to change internally, or the new direction I am to follow.
Just as Summer accelerates towards a spectacular Autumn
gust, I have learned that there is a time to say goodbye to old childhood
memories and take on a new, deeper identity, ,based in who I was, yet shaped by
what has happened to me.
And just as winter eventually thaws to make way for Spring
peonies, I have learned that all good things do take time – and late bloomers
and beautiful too!
I wanted to share this wonderful song about change and
transitions from the Broadway show “Carnival” called “Mira”. This is a recording of me singing this years
ago, trying to come to terms with how my life had changed so suddenly, and had
changed me as well. Yet, I still yearned
to feel like myself. How do we get back
to “Mira” – a place where “everybody knows our name” when life keepings
changing…
“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
― Lao Tzu
