A day in my Life, few years ago

Since I already wrote about a day in my current life a few days ago, today I am reminiscing to another time. I am re-living a time when I stayed with my friends, around 7 years ago. I had moved to a new city for a semester course, and I met my best friends. We live across continents now, but still the same at heart. I am gonna share with you what life looked like back then. The day started without any hustle, with a friend waking me up for the morning tea. We would sit together for tea and chats, and then have the breakfast together. Our accommodation provided all meals so we never had to cook anything, and it made it so much better to just eat, drink and chat with friends. After a lazy morning, we would all get dressed and head out for our (different) classes. Luckily, even the classes were just 2 hours a day, and we would all be back by time for lunch. Lunch usually was accompanied by some TV or movies. Our lazy afternoon was then filled by more talks, movies and pho...

Thankful Thursday

'Thank you' is the best prayer that anyone could say. I say that one a lot. Thank you expresses extreme gratitude, humility, understanding.  — Alice Walker I believe in gratitude. I believe in saying thanks- It brings joy to heart and makes us feel blessed for our life and everything in it, which we take for granted most of them times. With so much stress at work and in relationships, it gets harder and harder to see any good. We need to make giving gratitude a practice, a little prayer to say before we doze off each night. I use my blog to share my gratitude for life with you, and t oday, I am thankful for: Blogging:   I am getting back to blogging after over a month now, and it did take a little push to make myself sit and write again, but I am glad to be back. Trips: I have two trips planned for coming months- Portland for the long weekend, and Seattle for my birthday. I am so excited, and am loving the planning! Saturday Nights: A night o...

Friday Feelings

It's Friday, scribblers! I mean, FriYAY.  Today I am feeling a mix of sleep-deprivation, exhaustion, happiness, and excitement- all at the same time. This was an unusually long week for me and I couldn't be happier now that it's almost over. Work was crazy- with long meetings and sessions and people asking more of me. I also wasn’t able to sleep at night (thanks Game of Thrones!) and ended up being so tired and cranky the next day. Even today, it’s all the same, but I see a ray of hope- Weekend! Also, unlike other weekends, this would not be just sitting at home watching Netflix all day- I might actually go out after many weekends!!  Plans for my weekend include: Sleeping: A lot of it. I have to catch up on all the lost sleep over this weekend. I can't afford being a zombie for another week. Tourist-y stuff: A friend of mine is visiting me so this won’t be a boring weekend either. We might go to the Mystery Spot- it is said to me a gravitational ano...

Happy things

"Enjoy the little things,  for one day you may look back  and realize they were the big things."  - Robert Brault We often overlook them, but these little happy things have the power of changing out lives- they change our mood, our attitude, and our energies. With struggles of everyday life, we focus more on the negatives and the let downs, and it causes so much stress in life. I, myself, am not the most positive person always but time to time I like to look back and smile at the little happy things that make me feel blessed and peaceful at heart. And, today I thought of sharing with you some of the happy things from last few days! Stay at home: It wasn't planned but I had to go for an eye exam in the morning and the doctor suggested I stay away from sunlight and computers for some time. So I worked from home, after a good one-hour nap. Pay-day: I don't think I need to say much about it- my metaphorical pockets say it for me! Spa:...

Making multitasking possible

There are so many things going on in my life that, all at once, seem to demand attention from me. It is kind of stressing me out now, and the more I stress the more I want to not do any of those. Health: I have to get in a better shape and lose weight, and it needs meal planning, cooking at home, and working out of course. Job: It's a new job, and there's lot to learn, and for that I might even have to put in extra hours than usual. School: I am also finishing up my degree, which means I need to put in at least 10-12 hours each week. Blog: I really enjoy blogging, and reading other blogs, but all of it demands time. But, I just lose track of time very often while writing posts, or going through my feed, and end up spending hours. Relationships:  with me & others: A good work-life balance is important to me, and I don't want to become a person who is too busy to have some time for family, friends, or herself. Also, I need to focus on my...

5 Things I Learned from Blogging Again

Hello scribblers, How are you all? Long time since my last open letter to you. I know, I know, I was the one who had been absent for so long. Blogging again really seems like a comeback to me- can't even remember the past few years, they were so busy and fast. They still are, but writing is something I loved and therefore I have decided to give it my best effort by managing my time better. I started blogging again at the start of this year, and I am happy to be continuing it. And in this past month or so, there are a few things I have learned: Consistence is important , in everything we do. Even when we don't feel like doing it. Each day is different, and some days it takes a lot of extra work to get the thoughts from mind to paper. A little push on those days, and a bit of scheduling on the good days can help you on those seemingly bad ones.  It's quality, not quantity. The number of followers doesn't matter as much as the engagement with them. The num...

Is fortune real?

Last night, I went out for dinner with my roommate to P.F. Changs . We had a good time talking and eating- the two most important things for us. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken, and she got Oolong chilean Sea bass.  (Honestly, the food was just okay - I've had better!) With the check, we got these different fortune cookies they had made for their Valentine's special. I never eat fortune cookies, but my roommate thought they tasted better than the usual ones. I opened mine, and it said,  "Your heart of gold will soon help a friend in need." This fortune left me in mixed feelings. I do like to help my friends, I have always done so. But lately I have been feeling I do that a lot, but don't get much in return. So, this fortune doesn't make me feel so good. Maybe helping others has nothing to do with happiness. Maybe it just is how my life is. “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorabl...

My two favorites: Friends & Harry potter

Anybody who knows me knows how much love I have for F.R.I.E.N.D.S and Harry Potter . It's more than love, like this obsession, so much that my friends get irritated at times. The same weekend as my Disney trip , we also took a trip to the Warner Bros. Studios. I was super-excited! Here are some pictures of one of the best days of my life. Let's first go to Central Perk  I got the black one!  Yes, I sat on that couch!  ...and now to my other love  I looked. Mine wasn't there :-(   I love you Dobby Gryffindor!! I also did send out the Bat-signal  and we ended the day with the mandatory Hollywood sign visit. What a weekend it was! When was your last trip? Where did you go? P.S. Things I miss

As you all know, last week I moved   to a new city- which means a new but empty apartment. And there's only so much you can stuff into two suitcases. So it is going to take some time to make this into a home. It is going to be gradual, depending on each paycheck. But, right now I really miss: My camera: Thanks to baggage restrictions on flights, I had to leave my camera behind with my friend for time being. And being in a new city and also buying new things and decorating my place, I want to take pictures of everything. I guess the phone will have to do for now. Half of my wardrobe: Like I said, thanks baggage restrictions. Dresser: I like organizing things in drawers, especially the tiny stuff. I can't figure out where to put all of it till the time I find a good dresser. Bed: Sleeping on layers of comforters until my bed gets delivered sometime next week. Desk: I like to work on a writing desk, for blogging or anything else I have to do on my laptop. Also, I...

That one time in Disneyland

Since I am back in the land of sunshine, I was reminiscing about the day when I was here the last time. Hanging out with friends all the time, starting on Monday to make plans for next weekend, travelling like it's the last chance to do so. I had the most fun in those six months, and I look forward to re-live some of it and make new memories. Here are some pictures from my awesome trip to Disneyland!  Like everything else, it's the people around you that make these moments special.  I am lucky to have found great friends in life! --------------------------------------------------------- P.S. Let's get social!
