There are so many things going on in my life that, all at once, seem to demand attention from me. It is kind of stressing me out now, and the more I stress the more I want to not do any of those.
Health: I have to get in a better shape and lose weight, and it needs meal planning, cooking at home, and working out of course.
Job: It's a new job, and there's lot to learn, and for that I might even have to put in extra hours than usual.
School: I am also finishing up my degree, which means I need to put in at least 10-12 hours each week.
Blog: I really enjoy blogging, and reading other blogs, but all of it demands time. But, I just lose track of time very often while writing posts, or going through my feed, and end up spending hours.
Relationships: with me & others: A good work-life balance is important to me, and I don't want to become a person who is too busy to have some time for family, friends, or herself. Also, I need to focus on myself, learn to put myself first, and also take some time for self-care.
Honestly, it does feel like I have put too much on my plate, but none of these things is optional. I have to somehow make it all work for me. I need to multitask. I so need more hours in my day. But, a goal is nothing but a dream if there isn't a plan to achieve it, and my solution is Scheduling! I have started putting aside some time each day for all of these things. The work hours are going to be fixed. Apart from that, I have dedicated study hours more on the weekend so I won't freak out too much during the weekdays. Knowing when I should be doing what helps me plan my week better, and takes off some of the stress. And, if I do everything as planned I can make multitasking possible. I can do it!
I use the iCloud calendar to schedule tasks, because I really like that everything's is just in one place for my phone and web browser, and it's just simple; I don't have to download a separate app to combine different calendars.
I hope I can minimize my distractions and stick to my multitasking schedule.
Note to self: It's just a matter of few months, and it will get easier with time.

I use both a paper planner and my Google Calendar. EVERYTHING goes into my Google Calendar and I love that it sends me reminders but I also like writing stuff down and being able to see it easily at a glance.
ReplyDeleteI use the paper planner too.. I used to use Google calendar, but it would send a reminder and an email too.. And it just added to making me feel overwhelmed sometimes. So, for now, I am using no reminders at all. I look at calendar the night before and rely on my memory and check the calendar when I want to. Maybe I will turn on the reminders when it gets a little less stressful.

agh I have no tips but would like some. I know what you mean about losing time to blogging. I sit down at the computer and before I know it, the day is half way through and I haven't actually achieved anything!! What did we do before blogging??

ReplyDeleteSo, I haven't actually done this...but maybe carry a timer around with you? Or use your phone. Designate a predetermined amount of time per activity (yup, including blogging) and wrap it all up at the sound of the timer. That way (in theory), everything on your daily to-do list will get some attention. At the end of the day, go back and spend more time on whatever didn't get completed during the time you had assigned for it. Huh...I should SERIOUSLY give this a try. I'm a total procrastinator and probably need to take this advice more than you do. Ha! -Misty

Need to get more healthy and lose weight, I have a new job and been learning new stuff every single day for the past 6 weeks and being a mom and wife requires so much time as well that I always seem to forget about myself. Ugh… But, I know, WE CAN DO THIS! Hang in there and don't forget you are not alone! We are in this together! Hugs xxx
