Thankful Friday — October Blogging Challenge Day 2

Thankful posts are one of my favorite things to write. Making myself think about the things (or people) I am blessed with, fills me up with so much gratitude and just makes my day so much better.  Today I am thankful for: Friday: This week has been so hard and so slow, and I am just happy that it's finally Friday and I can catch up on sleep over the weekend. I also need a break from work.  Fitness progress: I know it's not the best and should be better if we go by the fitness calculators, but with the stubborn body I have, I am still thankful for the progress I have made and also for being able to stick to the diet. Puppies: My dog back home had babies, and they are the cutest thing ever. I wish I could just go home right now to play with them. Sunsets: Cali has been bestowing upon us amazing sceneries every evening. The views are simply breathtaking. I sit on my desk, looking out the window every evening and it takes all the stress away.  S...

Cut from the same cloth

We say we are all different, but at the same time it feels like we are all so similar. Despite the several obvious differences, it still feels like deep down we are all just the same. Craving for love and attention, focusing on ourselves before anyone else (some might wanna deny, but realize it's true), and take every important thing as granted just because it's there. And I am not just talking about relationships, though it stands true for them too. In this past month, I realized this. Both for relationships, and my own self. I hurt my foot, my hand and my heart and it taught me one thing: Nothing is going to magically stay there in your life. You have to work for it, take care of it, and never forget that having something today doesn't guarantee any such thing for future. So, love yourself. Take care of your health. And make sure your loved ones know you love them! P.S. Let's connect on  Facebook ,  Instagram ,  Pinterest ,  Bloglovin ,  and ...

The new month is almost here, which means it's time for a some goal setting. Starting this February I joined started setting some short term goals for myself. Check out my  February goals  and  March goals . This month will be the third month, but before that let's do a quick recap! I did okay with the studying. Workout wasn't so good, I had been caught up with a lot  I reduced my blogging frequency but that was intentional so I am happy with that For this month, Workout more. Stay consistent with blogging. I am thankful for

1. Naps: I had been in sleep debt for such a long time now, and over this weekend I slept well and a lot, and I feel like I have some energy back.  2. Alone time: My roommate was busy this weekend, and I was all alone- just doing my sleeping, laundry, reading. Like I have said before , it is a recharge for me to spend some time with just myself without the need to talk or be there for others.  3. Work: Past few months were a long, painful wait to get work. I used to hate those days when I was just waiting and it made me feel so worthless. But finally, I have got it! Bonus point: the perfect location- it's a five minute walk to a beautiful park facing a lake. I have been going there every day during lunch.  4. Fights: Normally, fights aren't something people are thankful for. But sometimes they show you how people care for you or how much you mean to them, so yeah today I am thankful for few. 5. A good news: My childhood friend got engaged! Yay!...

7 ways to handle stress in life

The busier life gets, more stressful it becomes. Having a lot on my plate lately, I have felt it even more. And, trying to handle all of it I decided to make a little list of things that help me to handle stress so that I can try to remember them and include them in life. And, since sharing is caring, I want to share it with you too. Take notes- Don't rely on memory. So many times I overestimate myself and think that I will remember everything later, and I have later regretted that. I have started putting things as reminders and taking notes in my planner for things I need to do. Prioritize- Take one thing at a time. This is a very important one, and probably the biggest culprit for my stress. But, now I try to put things on calendar so I have a blueprint for the day. Once you know what is more important, and you get those done, you won't feel so stressed even if you can't get to the last things on the list.. Avoid negative people-  I can't even coun...

Make a habit, Break a habit!

Last month I participated in the 'Make a habit, break a habit' linkup hosted by My Passion Journey and The Pinnacle Project, and as the new month starts I want to make and break some new habits. For this month, Habit to make - a sleep routine- going to bed at a proper time, and also taking few minutes before bed to take care of my skin Habit to keep - working out and eating healthy foods Habit to break - the compulsion to check every app on my phone before bed (breaking this habit will also help in the habit I am trying to keep) What habits do you wanna make or break? P.S. Let's connect on  Facebook ,  Instagram ,  Pinterest ,  Bloglovin ,  and   Twitter !

My new goals

At the beginning of last month, I started with setting goals for myself .  So, now it's time for an update: - I would say I did okay (not great). - I did achieve my goals for my blog, my personal writing and studying. - But I fell behind in workouts and also I didn't get around to reading. For the next month, my new goals are: STUDY harder- I have to improve my grades. I am gonna get an A. WORKOUT - be consistent, and follow a healthy diet.  BLOG - continue to be creative. I am aiming at thrice a week now, and the plan is to follow a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule. I think it makes more sense for me right now to focus on just these three and do a good job at them, instead of juggling too much and making a mess of my life. I think starting new things will have to wait a few months.  What are your new goals for this month (or old)? P.S. Let's connect on  Facebook ,  Instagram ,  Pinterest ,  Bloglovin ,  and ...

Making multitasking possible

There are so many things going on in my life that, all at once, seem to demand attention from me. It is kind of stressing me out now, and the more I stress the more I want to not do any of those. Health: I have to get in a better shape and lose weight, and it needs meal planning, cooking at home, and working out of course. Job: It's a new job, and there's lot to learn, and for that I might even have to put in extra hours than usual. School: I am also finishing up my degree, which means I need to put in at least 10-12 hours each week. Blog: I really enjoy blogging, and reading other blogs, but all of it demands time. But, I just lose track of time very often while writing posts, or going through my feed, and end up spending hours. Relationships:  with me & others: A good work-life balance is important to me, and I don't want to become a person who is too busy to have some time for family, friends, or herself. Also, I need to focus on my...

My 2015 Bucket List

Like everybody else, I too have made several bucket lists over last few years. Last year, I had 4 things on my list: Get a tattoo, drive on Golden Gate Bridge, go Skydiving, and visit Las Vegas. But, even after keeping the list short, I could do only half of it. I did get a tattoo and also drove on the Golden Gate Bridge which was awesome . But sadly, the rest of it couldn't happen! I might be a little late in doing this but I am making another list this year, we'll see how far we go with this one! Make this year a year of me. As far as I can remember, I have always given more importance to others- their happiness, their expectations of me. I want to change this. I want to be selfish.  Travel. Like last year, I have a few destinations in mind but I have learned that we cannot plan too much. So, I will try to travel as much as I can without making rigid expectations from this year or from people.  If someone is reading, I still have Vegas and Florida on my list. S...

Step Up Sunday - Linkup

I found this workout linkup on Britt's blog and I think it is a great way to be accountable to some other bloggers with the same struggles. How many pounds did you gain or lose? -1 since my last weigh-in How many inches did you gain or lose? +/- 0  Your weekly exercise or step goal, and did you meet it? My weekly goal is 6 days/week, which did not happen this week (gym was under some renovations). I did some workout for most days but I don't count it for much. It is good for general health and all, but wasn't much for my goals. What was your biggest challenge this week? Getting back to gym. I am a person for whom more than a day of break can put a full stop to all progress. I will need to kick my own butt tomorrow. What is your favorite healthy snack or meal? Avocados. I know they are fatty, but it is a healthy fat and they are nutritious and delicious- make a goof pre/post workout snack for me. Do you have any advice or tips for the rest of us? Don...

February Goals

Participating in the Make a habit, break a habit linkup yesterday got me thinking. Every year we all set up a bunch of goals for ourselves, which we may or may not achieve. I fall in the latter categories mostly. So, I have decided to take a problem solving approach and break it down to more achievable goals and hold myself accountable each month. For February I am a few days late, but better late than never, right? Here's my list: Finish READING the book  ( A million little pieces ) I started few months ago, but never finished because of my laziness WORKOUT  at least 21 days this month - making a habit Stay active on BLOG  , I'd say 4 times a week maybe. Write in my JOURNAL  every day- one liners would do! STUDY consistently - more than 3 days a week. I will be back with update on this at end of month. Wish me luck! P.S. I also found these old February goals . Also, check out my linkup goals . What are your goals?  ...
