Things I am thankful for

Oatmeal It is my favorite breakfast ever— recently I have found some new recipes and now breakfast is one thing I look forward to each morning. It makes getting up a little easier! Workout Clothes I got new workout leggings and I just love them so much I wanna wear them all day. Also, I noticed I am more likely to go workout if I am already in the workout clothes. Sweatpants are the enemy! Birthday Weekend I had one of the best birthday s this year, and I am so so so thankful for everything about it. Gifts After many years, this time I got so many gifts from both family and friends. Gifts are my love language, and I am blessed for all this love. Dates Night A little time out of the house, with a little wine and conversation can totally pick up my day.  Happy feet I think I am addicted to the mani-pedis now— love the pampering! Friends They are like your personal cheerleaders— so happy to have them to cheer me and pick me ...

Friday Things

Hello scribblers, How are you? How is life treating ya'll? What's going on lately? For me, it is pretty usual- Get up in the morning, get ready for work, eat my breakfast, try to fight sleep at work, come back home and cook, watch Game of Thrones with dinner and then try to sleep early. I have been failing at that last part a lot. I made some changes to the blog recently- I changed the header and also the default font for my blog. I also did a little tweaking in my template so now my posts titles are centered. I have to thank Dana , for her tutorials. They are really simple and easy to follow, and the small changes make a big difference. For creating the header, I used Canva . I love it- it's so easy to create images for my blog posts, icons or headers. For the fonts, I used free fonts from Google and imported them to my template. They have so many good fonts and it was so hard for me to choose. I initially had picked way too many, but thankfully they have...

Fitness: the real struggle

Try googling the world "fitness" and you get around 1.5 billion results in under a second. With that much amount of information, one would think it is achievable. Not that it isn't but it definitely isn't an easy journey. I personally have struggled with it for a large part of my life thus far and with very little success. So, obviously this is something that's on my mind a lot. Yes, we can aim at working out 5 days a week and come up with a healthy plan to follow. But, it isn't that simple. It's not just us and the plan- there are several other factors that throw us off. Work:  We all have things we need to do, and sometimes these things demand more attention than we have in mind. Be it long hours of work, or much needed family time, or giving attention to kids- life gets in the way of the fitness goals. Peer pressure: It's the hard truth- you are all alone in this journey. Friends and family don't really provide the support you mig...

Friday Feelings

It's Friday, scribblers! I mean, FriYAY.  Today I am feeling a mix of sleep-deprivation, exhaustion, happiness, and excitement- all at the same time. This was an unusually long week for me and I couldn't be happier now that it's almost over. Work was crazy- with long meetings and sessions and people asking more of me. I also wasn’t able to sleep at night (thanks Game of Thrones!) and ended up being so tired and cranky the next day. Even today, it’s all the same, but I see a ray of hope- Weekend! Also, unlike other weekends, this would not be just sitting at home watching Netflix all day- I might actually go out after many weekends!!  Plans for my weekend include: Sleeping: A lot of it. I have to catch up on all the lost sleep over this weekend. I can't afford being a zombie for another week. Tourist-y stuff: A friend of mine is visiting me so this won’t be a boring weekend either. We might go to the Mystery Spot- it is said to me a gravitational ano...

A day of you

How does it sound, a day dedicated to you? a day of self-care, a day of relaxation, a day of nothing. My perfect day would look something like this: Sleeping till late There's nothing I love more than my morning sleep.  But, thanks to whoever made this 9 to 5 work rule, that doesn't happen much.  My perfect day would definitely mean waking up late. Breakfast in bed Being the lazy ass I am, I tend to just stay in bed even after I am awake.  How wonderful it would be to have someone bring me food in bed. (Hint: Pancakes) Books I can totally picture myself curled up in bed, reading Harry Potter.  I am not strict about having a Harry Potter book, as long as I get to read a good book. Massages They are the best thing ever!  I get so relaxed that I always fall asleep- second chance to sleep in the same day WOW! Hugs and cuddles I definitely would need my dose of love! Doodling I don't think I can go by a whole ...

Best things in life

It's almost weekend scribblers, and I thought I would share a little list of the best things to me in life. Naps- I love sleeping. Sleeping in late on weekends brings me joy. Even more, I love those days when I get up, eat my breakfast, and then go back for another nap.  Secretly hoping for it to happen this weekend. I also wouldn't mind one any other time of day. Desserts-  Who doesn't like a bite of something sweet? After every meal, I just want something sweet- a mini dessert to finish the meal. Desserts are my comfort food. I love brownies, and cheesecakes. But since I can't eat those everyday, I have my healthier dessert option- dark chocolate with almonds. Hugs- The feeling of relaxing in arms of someone you love makes you feel so calm and safe. Nothing can beat that feeling. Hug it out! Music- Listening to some tunes can always make the day better. It also helps me focus better, it cuts out all other noise at work and I can just do my work while e...

Is fortune real?

Last night, I went out for dinner with my roommate to P.F. Changs . We had a good time talking and eating- the two most important things for us. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken, and she got Oolong chilean Sea bass.  (Honestly, the food was just okay - I've had better!) With the check, we got these different fortune cookies they had made for their Valentine's special. I never eat fortune cookies, but my roommate thought they tasted better than the usual ones. I opened mine, and it said,  "Your heart of gold will soon help a friend in need." This fortune left me in mixed feelings. I do like to help my friends, I have always done so. But lately I have been feeling I do that a lot, but don't get much in return. So, this fortune doesn't make me feel so good. Maybe helping others has nothing to do with happiness. Maybe it just is how my life is. “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorabl...

7 ways to feel better

We all have those days when nothing feels good, our shoulders are heavy and nobody seems to understand. I have been there too, quite a lot lately . Although we cannot run away from our problems altogether, sometimes we need to shut them out for a while and just focus on picking ourselves up.  Here are some things that always (read: most of the times) work for me: Chocolate:  It is the best endorphin fix there is (for me, at least). A small amount of chocolate , especially dark chocolate, can help elevate moods and induce a sense of pleasure. If you are not used to the darker ones, start adding the darkness gradually- that's what I did; there was a time when I hated dark chocolate, but after reading about its health benefits I started increasing the cacao percentage and now my absolute favorite is Ghirardelli Intense Dark . So, here's another reason for you to splurge*! Hot bath:  Baths can help reduce the stress and tiredness in body, and even help improve ...

Things I procrastinate with

(Photo: here ) They say when you procrastinate you do the things you like the most. There's a quote by Jessica Hische that says,"the work you do while you procrastinate is probably the work you should be doing for the rest of your life". When I procrastinate, I do it with: Tumblr - it is my first go to app on phone, and probably the most visited website on my laptop. Friends - thanks Netflix!  Cleaning - normally, I wouldn't go for it, but when I am dreading some other task, suddenly cleaning my room becomes very important. Food . I'm always extra hungry when I'm bored. (I should do something about this.) Doodling and writing - I get a creativity boost when I'm shooing away responsibilities.  Phone calls - usually I'm not a phone person but I start missing everyone when there are other things to be done Plan - I try to fit things in future days to make myself not feel guilty for wasting time now.  I think I can be a greatly distracted...

Am I back? Yes! With end-July Update

It's been so long since my last post here.  (I am not even gonna look, 'coz I know it's been like ages.)  And I don't know why.  It's not like I have been super-busy.  Yeah, I have been busy, but busy enough to forget writing!  That's no good, right? Okay, I'll be honest. My personal life has been flipping upside down,  for months now.  And maybe that's why.  Although I think the pain should have actually made me write more.  Don't you think? Should we start again? Okay, here's a look into my life right now: Feeling : happy yet sad; I am sappy Loving : that things are looking up, at least for now Reading : nothing. And I hate that! Wanting : that safe and secure feeling back, and this extra weight gone. Soon! Really soon! Dreaming : that life's moving forward, and good things are happening. Having : Blueberries Waiting : for the   good days, and my three week summer ...

A foodie soul trapped in stubborn body!

I am a foodie. I love to eat. I am hungry very often. I like all 'bad' foods. I munch when I am bored. I have a sweet tooth. And with that I have got a stubborn body. I put on weight in seconds. Anything I eat keeps adding up. It's like I have no metabolism at all. I workout but that just prevents me from adding more. I have been trying so hard to loose weight for last six months, but it has been constant. I am glad though that I was able to avoid gaining more. Now I am starting a diet change. And I workout for more than 2 hours everyday. I hope that works for me. I really wanna loose all extra weight on me.

A chocolate cookie

I need a big hug... I need a warm smile... I need a shoulder to cry on... I need a chocolate cookie... :(

June Update!

New month, so time for a little update: Feeling : stressed, worried Loving : my iPod Reading : documents, information pages Wanting : to get rid of procrastinating me Dreaming : of having wings, and flying freely. Having : boiled eggs Waiting : to be done with the whole process, and hear something good! How about you??

Things I learned

1. A day is really long if you wake up early. So, I'd rather just sleep in. 2. Anger never makes you feel good. Forgiving does. Love does. 3. Anxiety kills the excitement and curiosity. But I never seem to remember this. 4. You can never have too much Pizza. At least I can't. 5. Friends are truly the best part of life, if you got the right ones.  Luckily, I've got them. 6. A girl needs shopping. Point to remember guys  7. It's really hard to study, after you get a break. What am I gonna do :(

Oh my! It's May..

I didn't even realize it's May already. Time, surely, is flying too fast. Despite the heat, I love this month. A lot of birthdays coming up. And I am loving this month even more this year, for a special reason ;) May this May be good to me, and all of you. New month, so time for a little update: Feeling : happy Loving : the weather Reading : nothing, for a change Wanting : shopping, and to put off weight Dreaming : of having wings, and flying freely. Having : cup of milk Waiting : for my iPod ;) How about you??
