My inspiration— October Blogging Challenge Day 11

We all find inspiration in different things at different times. For some, it is nature, for some it is people. Sometimes it's art, sometimes it's solitude. For me too, there are days when I am inspired by my friends, or co-workers. Also, there are days when just being with me gives me inspiration to do something. But, what moves me most are words. Even since I was a little kid, I loved to read. I asked for books for my birthday, and I love going to different worlds. As I grew up, writing got added along with it, and more words. Even when I don't have much time to read a book, I still get my dose of inspiration from simple quotes, poems, or excerpts from books. So, for the blogging challenge today, I am sharing some quotes that inspire me.

In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.

This quote by Robert Frost is my favorite quote, always. I find it really powerful, especially during low points of life. No matter what the situation is today, life will still go on and there will be a new tomorrow. It always gives me hope, and the strength to hang on.

Whatever you do in life will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it.

I heard this quote in the movie Remember Me, which is one of my favorite movies. I think this quote is so true. In this huge world, we are all probably just insignificant. Whatever we do stays with us, but still we must do it. Because even if at end of life we are insignificant to the world, we still have meant something to some people and living the life we have touched other people's lives. So yes, it is important that we do whatever we do and be the best we can be.

“Is 'fat' really the worst thing a human being can be? Is 'fat' worse than 'vindictive', 'jealous', 'shallow', 'vain', 'boring' or 'cruel'? Not to me.

I am very thankful for quote from J. K. Rowling. In this skinny-obsessed and body shaming world, we need this. When someone like J. K. Rowling says this, it affects people. Especially the young adults who have grown up reading Harry Potter books and who love her for adding magic to their lives. When the world is treating being fat as the worst you can be, and bullying and shaming you for what your body is and totally neglecting your personality, things like this make a huge impact. This quote tells me I am much more than my weight, so much more. I am person, not a mannequin. I would rather be a better person than fit into some image.

Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do.

We all have those moments of self-doubt, when it feels like we can do nothing right. but it's the faith in ourselves that keeps us going in the end.

Always act like you’re wearing an invisible crown.

Yes, you should. Just imagining that crown gives an instant confidence boost, and the day just gets so much better.

What inspires you the most?

I am thankful for

1. Naps: I had been in sleep debt for such a long time now, and over this weekend I slept well and a lot, and I feel like I have some energy back.  2. Alone time: My roommate was busy this weekend, and I was all alone- just doing my sleeping, laundry, reading. Like I have said before , it is a recharge for me to spend some time with just myself without the need to talk or be there for others.  3. Work: Past few months were a long, painful wait to get work. I used to hate those days when I was just waiting and it made me feel so worthless. But finally, I have got it! Bonus point: the perfect location- it's a five minute walk to a beautiful park facing a lake. I have been going there every day during lunch.  4. Fights: Normally, fights aren't something people are thankful for. But sometimes they show you how people care for you or how much you mean to them, so yeah today I am thankful for few. 5. A good news: My childhood friend got engaged! Yay!...

A day in San Francisco — Memorial Day

If you have followed my blog for sometime, you probably know about my big move across coast. It's been a few months being a Cali resident, but I haven't gotten out as much as I would have liked.  Maybe once we move to a place, it kinda loses the tourist charm that it has when we visit for a weekend. Don't you think? I decided to make this right and this Memorial Day weekend, I spent my first Touristy day in San Francisco. Like anything else, I made a long list of places to see, and spread it across three days based on distance proximity. Yes, it was a whole weekend plan but life get in way and hence it ended up being just a day trip. The day started with a little detour at Bay Trail, near Shoreline Park, followed by a quick brunch at Crepe Vine and a beautiful long drive to the city. The Painting Ladies at Alamo Square was our first stop. These are basically just houses with a Victorian architecture and painted with three or more colors. The whole area l...

Transient Tuesdays: Don’t Be Afraid of Change

There are two types of people: those who fear change and those who actively pursue. I have always been an active pursuer of change, while my brother was not. I was the kid who changed my after school activity until I found what I really loved, with no fear at all. I was the one who changed my hair in middle school, who became a leader in a club during my freshmen year of high school, and who insisted on touring the country at 17.  Change is a choice, and is an active endeavor. And so is not changing. We decide the direction our lives take, and we can either do so with fear or with confidence. Making changes keeps life the way you want it, on the track you wish to take, and is completely you’re choice what to do, or not do. Change shouldn't scare you, because it’s a tool to help you make your life just the way you want. Although staying where you are is comforting, change can make you grow and improve your situation. So go change your hair, your job, your city, or w...
